This study searches the role of dust storms particles that take place in Iraq as a condensation cloud nuclei CCN depending on the Kelvin equation, where reducing surface tension (σ) by these nuclei leads to reduce the vapor pressure and makes the cloud droplets grow, an experiment carried to measure σ of the drop solution consists of 1liter distilled water additive to it with average 0.1g a different concentrations of dust particles 0-10g with volumes approaching to volumes of giant nuclei, which collected from dust storms that hit Iraq in 2011. Results showed that the soluble compounds of dust particles which is dominated by gypsum CaSO4•2H2O controlling the σ of the drop that dropped by 48.48421dyne/cm as a result of increasing the concentration of dust particles, 0-2.6g, and the amount of solute, which solvent saturated in it, where there was a strong linear relationship with correlation coefficient 0.998 connects between σ and increasing the concentration of dust particles access to the saturation point of solution. Decreasing σ does not lead to a significant change in the value of vapor pressure, which dropped by 0.0178dyne/cm² only, so it can be considered the particles of local dust storms a giant CCN with limited efficiency. | ||
