In this research,we have achieved the description of radionuclidesthat exist inthe samplesofDiyalariversedimentsaswellastomeasurethespecific activities usinggamma-ray spectroscopy. The elevensampleswerecollectedamong the length of DiyalaRiverstarting fromAl- Rustumiyaandfinishing at the point where DiyalaRivermeets Tigris which is in Baghdad. Gamma-ray spectrometrysystemconsists ofhigh-purity germaniumdetector(HpGe)with50%efficiencyandresolution (2.2 keV)for the energy(1332 keV) was usedforstandardsource60Co.Cardspectrum analyzerconnectedtothePCtypePentium4was used to viewthespectrum. And rates ofthespecific activity for theradionuclides, (214Bi) Equivalentto thespecific activity of238Uand(228Ac)Equivalentto thespecific activity of232Thand(40K)inthese sedimentsare(29.997 Bq / kg)and(13.74 Bq / kg)and(839.85 Bq / kg), respectively.Inaddition to that(4.85 Bq / kg)fornuclide137Cs.Calculationsshowedthathazard index (H)for theseradionuclideswas (0.389 Bq / kg),which iswithinthe allowable limitbeingless than 1, andapproachtorecordedsomeinternational organizationssuch as the(WHO),(ICRP),(NCRP)and(EPA)which are within maximumallowed. | ||
