Utopia and its contrast with the negative aspects of city in Abdol Mota Al Hijazi’s Poems Dr. Ali Sayadani Abstract This research is about studying ”City and Utopia” which are lasting phenomena in the realm of literature and poetry. In order to get comprehensive results, this research focuses on the poems of one of the contemporary famous poets; Abdol Mota Al Hijazi. To explain the subject better, some notes and poems of two other famous poets, Abdul Vahab Albiati and Nazik Almala’ekah, have been concluded. In this research the descriptive method has been used. So at first we have extracted the related lines from this poet’s and those two other poet’s poems. Then, we have analyzed their poems, especially Abdol Mota’s ones from this point of view The results of this study show that city with all of its properties, such as being crowded, a lot of noises, tall buildings, being ruled by mechanical system, speed, loss of identity, discouragement, fragmentation of social relationships and etc has been appeared in Abdol Mota’s poems and it shows the reactions of this rural poet to this adverse place; the reactions which leads the poet to choose Utopia, a world without these problems.
