Abstract | ||
The concern of this study is on finance and development prospects in Iraq. The starting point is the government expenditure for the year 2014 vis-à-vis expected oil revenue. Also, the structure of expenditure has been examined in relation to efficiency requirements and anticipated course of implementation with emphasis on potential deficit. In order to assess the gains of development and structural changes macroeconomic performance has been reviewed addressing the non-oil activities, money creation, credit to private sector, interest rate and inflation. And to enhance private sector investment ,the importance of relative prices and cost have been highlighted. The paper has benefitted from international reports regarding how sensitive out economy to the world economic situation.in this regard, crude oil development program and resource base strategy for industrialization are revisited. The issues raised, here, would not be settled in the near future and the future shape is still unclear. | ||
