Abstract | ||
This research attempts to study the biography of the Mongolian Sultan Kudabenda (Ulgiato) and his way to the throne of the Mongolian Sultanate (703-716 Hegira / 1303-1316 A.D.; the eighth Mongolian kings who governed the Mongolian Nation to which Iraq was one of its states since its occupation by the Mongols in 656 Hegira / 1258 A.D.) by Hulagu. Sultan Kudabenda (Ulgiato) had a great role in the political and other events which Iraq had witnessed throughout his reign. This is why this subject has been chosen to tackle his childhood, upbringing, and attributes; in addition to his way to the throne of the sultanate. Sultan Kudabenda (Ulgiato) was able to keep the Mongolian Nation stable in Persia and Iraq. He was also able to control the riots in many parts of his country. He collected the Islamic scholars and made long debates; then he chose the Shiite doctrine due to the active role of the scholar al-Hasan bin Yousif bin al-Muttahar al-Hilli and declared it as the official doctrine of the state. This step was very bold because no previous Mongolian king did it so Shiism was in its golden age. | ||
