Abstract | ||
Contemporary world witnesses accelerated development in the communication field due to the revolution of the communication and information technologies; or what is known as the digital revolution or the digital system which combines information technology to the communication technology. These immense developments have brought up a new form for communication known as digital communication. It has its own concepts, language and styles. Digital technologies brought up a real revolution in the human communication; changed numerous previous notions, concepts and theories so that new different, or even opposite theories under the effect and context replaced the ones which have been familiar for the societies pre- revolution and before this new communication form take place. This new form of communication has been granted various names, such as, the new media, the alternative media, the numerous means and others. It has, however, its own distinctive language. E-writing has led many changes in writing style, formation, writing language, not to mention out lay methods. This study investigates the concept of digital communication, its e-language and poses the issue of lingual chaos on the internet through an applied study on chat rooms. The study suggests some related recommendations. | ||
