This study aims to apply the Water Quality Index (WQI) to evaluate the surface and groundwater samples in the Tanjero Basin area. The study area lies in the north-east part of Iraq within Sulaymania City. Surface and groundwater parameters, violation of the WHO drinking water standard, only chosen to enter to (WQI) equation. Therefore, the parameters (Ca2+, K+, NO3-, Ni, Pb, Cd, and Zn) are chosen to calculate the (WQI) for surface and groundwater samples. Then, the Weights (Wi) were assigned to these parameters based on their Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) (influencing) in the human health significanctly The (WQI) results shows unsuitable of surface and groundwater samples for drinking purposes. Also, the results show how much pollution in study area that caused by the wastewater of different uses. The (WQI) GIS maps for groundwater samples of Tanjero aquifer, shows the general pollution situation of whole aquifer in the study area and not only in sample locations. | ||
