Abstract | ||
Acute otitis media (AOM) is the most common childhood illness for which antibiotics are prescribed. Acute otitis media accounts for 22 % of visits to the emergency department, and has a peak incidence between 6 and 24 months of age, and is the second most common cause (after upper respiratory infection) for clinic visits among patients under 6 years of age. Bacteria are the most common etiologic agent of infections. | ||
