Abstract | ||
In countries with complete vital registration systems that capture all births and deaths under-five mortality can be directly calculated. In the absence of a complete vital registration system child mortality must be estimated by using indirect methods. This paper reviews direct and indirect methods used to estimate child mortality rates (U5MR). I present an analysis using data from Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 2006 (MICS3) in fifteen governorates of Iraq to estimate childhood mortality rates with direct methods. I use multiple sources of data used to estimate (U5MR) with indirect methods. | ||
