Abstract | ||
As a part of systematic investigation of synthesis and biological activity of several new 3-bromo-4-aryl-1-[5-(methylthio -or- methylsulfonyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl]azetidin-2-one [D10-D15] have been synthesized from 5-[(Arylidene)amino]-2-(methylthio)-1,3,4-thiadiazol [D4-D6] and 5-[(Arylidene) amino]-2-(methylsulfonyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol [D7-D9] using 5-Amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol as the starting material. Some of the synthesized products were evaluated for their antibacterial activity against gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis) and gram-negative (E. coli, Pseudomonas) bacteria. The structure of all the compounds was confirmed by using physical methods such as 1H-NMR, IR, UV. visible and elemental analysis. | ||
