Abstract | ||
An experiment was conducted during winter season 2009-2010 at Al-Dair, Basrah Governorate to assess the effect of sowing dates and foliar application with arginine on growth and yield parameters of green broad bean plants (Vicia faba L.) cv." Luz de otono".The study included six treatments which were the combination of two factors. The first was two sowing dates was (10/10 and 20/10) and the second three arginine conc. was (0, 100,200 )mg.l-1. A Split Plot Design was used with three replicates.Results showed that early date of sowing in 10/10 and foliar application with arginine at 100 mg.l-1 gave the highest values in plant height (140.00 cm), number of branches (11.11), leaflets (252.6), shoot fresh weight (975.1g) pod length (27.66 cm) and number of pods (23.54 pod), seeds per pod (6.50), as well as weight of seeds per plant (614.6 g ) and seed productivity (11.87 ton. donum-1) whereas the late date of sowing in 20/10 and foliar application with arginine at 100 mg.l-1 gave the highest values in pod weight (33.66 g), weight of 100 seeds (410 g ) as well as the green pod yield per plant (789.9 g ) and green pod productivity (15.26 ton. donum-1 ). | ||
