The experiment was carried out under the conditions of field crops college of Agriculture and Forester University of Mosel 2012 , in order to study the effect of Johnson grass rhizome length which exposed to different period of drying under sun light on the growth and regeneration of Johnson grass . The experiment included two factors , the first one , selected 3 length of rhizome length , 2 buds (4cm) , 4 buds(8cm)and 6 buds(12cm), whereas the second factor was exposared the rhizome to different period of drying under sun light for 1,2 and 3 days and control treatment was also used Four segments of Johnson grass rhizome for each treatment were planted in plastic pots measuring (20.5 cmx 16.5 cm) according to the randomize complete design with three replicates . The results of the present study illustrated that there was a significant reduction in the number of plant surviving as the number of drying days in creased especially when used short rhizome length (2 buds (4cm) in which the percetage of reduction reached nearly 22.25% and 69.5% for rhizome exposured for 1and 2 days drying as compared with control treatment .It was also observed that there was a significant decreases in the following characteristics height of plant , No. of leaves /plant , the dry weight of vegetative system , the length of rhizome , the fresh weightof rhizome and dry weight rhizomes, in the case of increasing rhizome length and decreasing number of hoursexposured rhizome to drying. | ||
