Abstract | ||
The Book of Sibawaih was and is considered an indispensible source in the study of Arabic, and the rules of eloquence, its traditions, the changes that take place in its vocabularies, the justifications of its structure transformations, the recognition of the influence of various factors and the identifying of the intentions and connotations. Avoidance is one of the linguistic phenomena in the Book: phonetic, morphological, grammatical, and connotative used by the linguists to straighten what is deviate, elongate what is short, and to justify what the eloquent Arab orator replaces, changes, omits, and vocalizes purposefully. They say on his behalf that he avoids speaking in a certain way using another and avoids this expression employing another. Further, they put for what is left some reasons and for what is used some rules. | ||
