One hundred water Samples were Collected from four different parts of Tigris river. The result showed that filamentous fungi were isolated from 75 Samples. Twelve species which belong to (8) genera were isolated and identified the fungi included: Four species from the genus Aspergillus, two species from the genus penicillium and one species from each of the following genera: Chaetomium, Cladosporinm , Fusarium, Mucor, Scopulariopsis and Trichoderma. The ability of fungi isolated were tested on biodegradation of Crude Oil invitro. Among the twelve fungal isolated only eight showed ability for this. A.versicolor showed the highest degradation ability (90%) followed by A.niger, Fusarinm solani, and penicillium chrysogenum (70%), while A.flavus, A.fumigatus, Mucor hiemalis and Trichoderma koningii the degradation ability percentage range between (40-45%) Four species showed negative Capability. | ||
