The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the laparoscopic surgery for nephrectomy by using three different methods to close the blood vessels and ureter before removing of the kidney and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Eighteen local breed dogs of both sexes was used in this study, their age ranged from 3 months to 2 year, while their weight ranged from 5-25 kg. They were divided randomly into 3 groups (A-C) of 6 dogs in each group. The left kidney was removed in all animals. In group A, the laparoscopic nephrectomy was feasible and easily to do and the clips revealed efficient in closing the vessels and ureter. The disadvantage was the possibility of failing of the clips and use of additional clips were needed. In group B the use of extracorporeal knot was highly efficient for closing vessels and ureter, the advantage was low economical cost in comparison with clips, but its disadvantage causing tension and tortion of the vessels and ureter during traction of the thread to put it in sutable position. In group C the thermocautery proved an efficient tool for prevent bleeding and cutting at same time with out needed to vascular ligation, the disadvantage of this method is accumulation of smoke in abdominal cavity that obscure the vision. Laparoscopic examination at 30 postoperative day revealed no important changes except that mild adhesion in some cases. | ||
