The present study was conducted at the poultry farm The Department of Animal Resources,College of Agriculture-Anbar University,on quail flock (coturnix Japonica),(78 family) .The objective of this study was to estimate the genetic and phenotypic parameters (heritability ,genetic and phenotypic correlations) in quail birds depending on productive parameters (body weight of two and four, weeks of age, Bwt and age at sexual maturity, chick weight persent to Bwt weekly feed consumption ,egg production ,egg mass ,and egg weight) and to study the effect of season(goneration) and hatch effects. The study also included genetic evaluation of certain, sires depending on progeny data. Results obtained can be summarized as the overall means of this productive traits hatch weight ,2 and 4 weeks hatch weight percent, weight and age at sexual maturaty ,7.12 (g),40.68 (g) ,105.76 (g),189.66 (g),46.33 (day), 3.83 (%) 8.85 (g),168.41 (g),20.7 (egg), 200.64 (g),9.5 (g) respectively . Heritability of hatch weight ,2and 4 weeks of age, weight and age at sexual maturity, weekly feed consumption were 0.16, 0.17, 0.18, 0.20, 0.34 respectively, and (0.25, 0.32, 0.32), (0.24, 0.24, 0.31), (0.28, 0.31, 0.39) for egg production, egg weight ,and egg mass for three months respectively The genetic and phenotypic correlation among different studied traits were highly significant .Wide range of breeding values for centain traits were observed ,specially for weight at sexual maturity, feed consumption ,egg mass, and which indicate the presence of additive genetic variance, that could be used in selection programs. | ||
