The study was performed on (60) patients ,(30) healthy subjects were investigated as a control group (16 male , 14 female ) ,while (30) diabetic and hypertensive patients (15 male , 15 female ) were used as experimental group .The results showed a highly significant increase in blood glucose level ( 14.72 ± 2.66 ) mmol/l compared to healthy subjects ( 3.96 ± 0.38 ) mmol/l . In addition , the results also showed a significant increase in Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) activity (p<0.0001) compared to healthy subjects. The study also included the estimation of lipid profile which showed a highly significant increase in blood Cholesterol (Ch) , Triglyceride (TG) , Low density lipoprotein (LDL) , Very Low density lipoprotein (VLDL ) levels and highly significant de-crease in High density lipoprotein (HDL) compared to healthy subjects .A positive correlation between SOD activity and atherogenic index was also shown | ||
