In this study, the uptake behavior of Ni(II) ions from aqueous solution using waste polyurethane foam (PUF) was investigated. It was found that the pH of maximum adsorption is 8. The parametric study reveals that the increase of adsorbate concentrations (10 to 200 mg/L) and temperature (35 – 55oC ) enhances the removal of Ni(II) ions, and from application of kinetic data it is inferred that the adsorption of Nickel ions onto PUF follow second order rate equation. The equilibrium adsorption data are tested for Langmuir and Freundlich equations, results indicate that both isotherms are applicable. The thermodynamic study reveals that the process is endothermic in nature and the mechanism of adsorption is physical. | ||
