Abstract | ||
The progression of prostate cancer to a metastatic state and to hormone independence is thought of as a multi-step process involving cytokines , hormones and some biochemicals . In this study, was measured serial levels of serum IL-6 as inflammatory marker , testosterone as hormonal marker and zinc as biochemical marker in patients with malignant PCa at different clinicopathological stages of the disease. All markers were measured and correlated with clinicopathological variables and patient survival. Serial changes in these markers were also assessed and related to disease progression. The results showed a significant difference observed between the four stages of PCa patients; however, highly significant difference was observed in stage IV compared to control and BPH (P<0.05) .
