Abstract | ||
The experiment was carried out at the center of Extension and training of the agricultural – AL Diwaniya , During the fall season in 2007 / 2008 . It was aimed to investigate the effect of nitrogen fertilizer & intercropping corn and mung bean on yield & some components compared to a single crop system. An experiment conducted using split plot with randomized complete block design ( R. C. B. D. ) with three replicated. Nitrogen levels (0 , 75 , 150 Kg N/h) were used as main plots. Monocropping and Intercropping for corn and mung bean were used as sub plots of a single. The results showed that the monoculture of mung bean crop caused significant increased in the tiller number , number of pods/plant , Seed number/pod , Yield/plant and total yield/ha. While the intercropping between mung bean and Corn was exceeded the monoculture of Corn in all the yield components. The result also indicated that the application of Nitrogen fertilizer with 75 kg/h studied characters in Mung bean. While in 150 kg/h nitrogen application and the intercropping between Mung bean and Maize. The interaction between intercropping and fertilizer level also caused insignificant in creasement in all characters. The conclusion of this study important of intercropping between corn and legumes crops in order to give the highest yield with middle nitrogen fertilizer. | ||
