A Field experiment was conducted in the field of Agriculture college – university of Baghdad in a silty clay loam soil during 2010 to study the effect of tractor speed and plowing depth on some performance indicators of machine unit . In This study special locally made equipment (sub surface plow) with the tractor " New Holland TD-80 " were used as machinery unite . The Treatments including three tractor's speeds included 3.27 , 5 and 6.72 km/h and Three depth of plowing included 0-5 , 5-10 and 10-15 cm . The experiment was executed according to a split design under randomized Complete block design (RCBD) with three replications least significant differences (L.S.D) were used to compare means of Treatments at 0.05 level. slippage percentage ,practical productivity and field efficiency for the plow were studied in this research . The results were as follows : The tractor speed 6.72 km/h was superior in getting higher plow's practical productivity for all plowing depth while the speed 3.27km/n was superior in getting less slippage percentage and higher plow's field efficiency for all plowing depth . The depth (0-5) cm was superior in getting higher practical productivity and field efficiency for the plow and less slippage percentage for all speeds. The interaction between the speed (3.27)km/h and plowing depth (0-5)cm was superior in getting less slippage percentage and higher plow's field efficiency while the in traction between the speed (6.72)km/h and plowing depth (0-5) cm was superior in getting higher plow's practical productivity . | ||
