Abstract | ||
Abstract: Four plant powders, i.e. Peel of Pomegranate fruits, rhizomes of turmeric, leaves of myrtle and natal plum were tested in three concentrations are (2,4,6)% / 250 g of paddy grains (w /w) for the mortality, repellence, against adult rice weevil Sitophilus oryzae and rice grain loss caused by S. oryzae . The results revealed that all of the tested materials with some variations had repellent and lethal effects against the pest as compared with the untreated check. Where leaf powder of natal plum gave in concentration 6%, the highest percentage mortality was 88.33%, followed by leaf powder of myrtle by 79.66% , while the powder of Peel of Pomegranate fruits and rhizomes of turmeric influential moderate as it was 68.33% and 54.16%, respectively, But they all gave significant differences in comparison with, control, that the percentage of mortality, where 27.33%. Powdered leaves of myrtle and natal plum were noted to be highly repellant reached at (91.68 and 88.90) respectively while powdered peel of pomegranate fruits and rhizomes of turmeric were observed to be moderately repellant.
