Social Interaction Dimensions (Attendance, Cooperation, Communication, Attentions to Others) and its Relation with Commanding Personality for Handball Coaches of the Qualifying Championship for the 1st Class Teams The current study consists of an introduction and five sections. Section one is an introductory section stating that social interaction is of the widely spread concepts as it deals with how the coach interacts with its environment and the resulting values, habits and trends. The coach is characterized by some kinds of relatively fixed readiness that distinguish the coach responses and called the interactive features. The study is an attempt to identify social interaction dimensions (attendance, cooperation, communication, attention to others) and its relation with the commanding personality for the qualifying championship for the 1st class handball teams. Section two is a literature review that deals with both social interaction (elements and theories) and studies concerned with the commanding personality, its impact on sports and characters of the coach. Section three deals with the methodology adopted where descriptive approach is used through correlative relations. The researcher has deliberately selected the study population representing (14) coaches of the qualifying championship for the 1st class handball teams for the year 2010 –2011. They were divided into two groups, the first one in Asaad Shuker hall in Najaf consisting of Waset Oil, South Oil, Karekh, Al Shamiya, Al Samawa, Al Basrah Al Ahly and Karbala teams, while the second group in the Olympic Hall at Karbala consisting of Najaf, Army, Al Futawa, Serwan, Diyala, Al Shurta and Al Tooz teams. Social interaction measure prepared by Al Nooby (2010) is used by the researcher where it consists of four dimensions: attendance to others, cooperation with others, communication with others, and attention to others. Various measures for commanding personality are available in references, and the researcher has used Philip Carter and Keen Russell’s measure for the commanding personality (2010). The modernity, accuracy and clearance of the measure are among the reasons for using this measure in addition to being not applied. Pilot experiment has been made to identify the obstacles and the negative aspects that could accompany the implication of the main experiment. The two measures used in the study were distributed by the researcher for the pilot experiment population consisting of (60) coaches. The pilot experiment showed the following: no available pencils for answer and the researcher needed a microphone to communicate with others. Section four deals with the results shown in tables showing that there is a relation between social interaction and commanding personality for coaches of the qualifying championship for the 1st class handball teams. There was no significant relation between attention to others and commanding personality of the coach. Section five sums up with main recommendations to make similar studies dealing with other games and more focus should be on attention to others to reach a comprehensive interaction among the coaches and their players. | ||
