This study was conducted to determined the effect of dietary sodium bicarbonate salt as a replacement of sodium chloride salt on performance and some blood parameters of broilers. A totally of 180 (ROSS 308) one-day old chicks were divided into three groups, 60 chicks in each and each group into 3 replicates. The first group fed standard ration supplemented with 0.25% sodium chloride salt, second and third groups were fed standard ration supplemented with 0.25 and 0.50% sodium bicarbonate salt respectively. The results revealed that dietary sodium bicarbonate salt groups (second and third groups) predominant sodium chloride salt group (first group) significantly (P<0.05) in live body weight, weight gain and feed efficiency during the last weeks of the study, when as first group predominant second and third groups significantly (P<0.05) in feed consumption and mortality, also second and third groups predominant first group significantly (P<0.05) blood PCV, Hb, RBC and L/H ratio at 8 weeks of age, no effects due to sodium bicarbonate salt concentration were noticed. This indicated the important of dietary sodium bicarbonate as a replacement of sodium chloride salt to improve health and physiological status of broilers during summer. | ||
