This study was carried out May year 2011 at two deferent villages at Khoshnaw Region of Erbil Government on (178) goat with various ages. The samples were taken from mid-side to study the effect of herd, age of goat and goat status on each physical characterization measurements (staple and fiber length, fiber diameter, clean hair percentage and (S/P) ratio and fiber type ratio). Overall means of each staple and hair and down fiber length (13.51, 16.36 and 4.5 cm res.), fiber diameter for hair and down (cashmere) (97.29 and 14.85 microns res.), clean hair percentage and (S/P) ratio (95.69 % and 0.33res.) and fiber type ratio for (guard, down and kemp) percentage were (93.42, 28.2 and 3.75 % res.). A significant effect of herd (P≤0.01) appeared only on clean hair percentage and fiber diameter of down (cashmere) hair, while the effect of age was significant (P≤0.01)on all studied characteristics excluding clean hair percentage and kemp hair percentage and hair and down fiber diameter. Also the effect of goat status was significant (P≤0.01) only on crimp numbers. From this study conclude that mountain black goat one of the cashmere goat production and produce very soft hair and recommending for extension farmers and breeders for the importance of this type of hair for the purpose of increasing its quantities. | ||
