Abstract: The experiment was conducted in field, desert area, located in AL-Kufa in AL-Najaf Governorate during 2010-2011 growing season on Onion crop (Allium cepa L.) Local red cultivar. The aim of experiment was to observe the effect of spraying humus liquid fertilizer (Liq Humus) at different concentrations, irrigation terminating dates and the interaction between the treatments on yield and quality of Onion crop. The experiment comprised 12 treatments; four concentrations (0, 3, 6 and 9) ml.L-1 of humus liquid fertilizer (Liq Humus) sprayed on the plant foliage and three dates of terminating irrigation which they were 5, 10 and 15 days before the date of lifting crop. The adopted experimental design was (R.C.B.D.) in three replicates. The mean differences were analyzed by using L.S.D. at the probability level 0.05. Results showed that the third dates of terminating irrigation (15 day) gave significantly better results over the other two dates on (bulb diameter, bulb length, bulb wet weight, total yield, carbohydrate percentage and total soluble solids per bulb). Results also showed that spray of humus liquid fertilizer had a significant effect. Concentration of 9 ml.L-1 gave the highest values of the studied parameter as compared with the control treatment (spray of distilled water only). The interaction between dates of terminating irrigation and spray of humus liquid fertilizer was significantly. 15 day dates of terminating irrigation and 9 ml.L-1 of humus liquid fertilizer gave the highest means of the studied parameters and reached 7.46 cm, 5.98 cm, 123.76 g, 26.82 t.ha-1, 13.09% and 13.19% as compared with 5 day dates of terminating irrigation and spray of distilled water only which gave the lowest means for the mentioned parameters successively. | ||
