Abstract | ||
A field experiment was conducted on clay loam soil of Al – Bradia orchid of Agric. Coll. Univ. of Basrah. During the growing season of 2004 – 2005 the experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of soil moisture content (75 % and 100 % of F. C.) and depth on mean weight diameter(MWD) and soil bulk density and saturated hydraulic conductivity .Barley seeds were planted in rows at rate of 120 Kg/ha. plant samples were collected at four growth stage(planting stage after 10 days ,tillaring stage after 70 days, flowering stage after 120 days and maturity stage after 150 days of Planting). During these stages , soil sample were also collected at depth of 0 – 15 and 15 - 30 cm and used to determine soil bulk density, hydraulic conductivity and MWD Results showed higher increasing in soil aggregate stability in 75 % F.C. comparing with the 100 % F. C. at the depth of 0 – 15 cm as the growth season progressed. Results also indicated that soil bulk density at 100 % F. C. was significantly higher than that of 75 % F. C. however soil bulk density at both soil moisture treatments were decreased with the progress of plant growth. Soil bulk density values at depth 15 – 30 cm was significantly higher than those of (0 – 15) cm depth. As of hydraulic conductivity results indicated significant increasing at 75 % F. C. as compare with 100 % F. C. and increased as the season progressed, never the less, the increase in hydraulic conductivity of 0 – 15 cm depth was higher than those of 15 – 30 cm depth . on other note the 75% FC indicated significant yield and dry weight values than those of the 100% FC treatment. | ||
