Abstract | ||
This paper investigates the language and expressions used by women in Omar’s dialogues with the beloved and her girlfriends whether in his presence or when they are alone. The dialogue in Omar’s poetry represents a pillar in the structure of his poem and supplies evidence about what is common in the language of women, which is the core of this research. This is relevant to woman’s nature and culture and is related to her familiarity with the urban life which is highlighted in specific subjects, such as: wishful thinking, oath, praying and admonition. There are words in this language which are unique to women. There are also signals and body movements known as non-verbal language. Accordingly, Omar’s poetry can be regarded as a literary and civilization document which helps scholars for better understanding of the society of the Hijazi , and in particular her language. | ||
