Abstract | ||
This study was conducted from November 2007 to May 2008 for evaluation epidemiology of dermatophytes in samarraa city , (120) samples had been collected from patients with different ages & both sexes from samarraa Hospital & some other private clinics in samarraa city. The age of the patients ranged between more than 1 month to 64 year , which include (56) males and (64) females. Samples had been tested by direct Microscopic examination using KOH 15% and 20% and culture examination on sabouraud dextrose agar.Direct microscopic examination and culture showed 85% of (102) cases were positive, while 15% of (18) cases were negative . Group age of (21-30) year showed higher ratio of infection with(31.3%).Infection had been classified clinically into six types (Tinea croporis , Tinea manum , Tinea ungium , Tinea pedis , Tinea cruris and Tinea capitis).It's clear that Tinea corporis showed the higher ratio with (45%) while the lowest ratio(8.3%) was with Tinea capitis. | ||
