Abstract | ||
ABSTRACT 16 years after the fall of the former Iraqi regime, intense protests erupted in several Iraqi governorates in October 2019, in which the demonstrators demanded the authorities to implement various reforms in the political, economic and security matters. As a result, many demonstrators were killed and wounded, as well as among the security forces. These complex events resulted in the Iraqi government submitting its resignation due to local and international pressure, especially on the part of international governmental and non-governmental organizations. The importance of this research appears in shedding light on a controversial topic, which led to a deep division in Iraqi public opinion between supporters and opponents of the popular protests in Iraq, and trying to study it objectively and impartially. Were the international organizations, as well as the local ones, able to protect the popular protests in Iraq? And how? What are the effects of these organizations' intervention - in the short and long term - on the (complex) political system in Iraq affected by the regional situation? Did it adhere to objectivity in its coverage and reports | ||
