Abstract | ||
This study has been performed in Beshir area at north of Diyala city by planting seven species of cucurbit family plants through out the spring and fall seasons of 2014 , the field results of sensitivity test for the tested species to the infection of cucurbit fruit fly Dacus ciliatus (Loew(that the infection rates Shows in spring season are 74.37% , 41.89% and 11.62% for bottle gourd ,cucumber and snakemelo, respectively. While the rates for fall season were 88.39% ,69.09% and 45.25% respectively , and yield loss 51.37% , 26.61% and 13.02% in the spring season for bottle gourd , snakemelon and cucumber , 29.99% , 21.43% and 4.04% in the fall season respectively , the studied species were different in sensitivity degree to infect by the insect , bottle gourd , cucumber and snakemelon has the highest values of the studied criterion which are infection rate , yield losses ,loss in fruit length number of infection spots per fruit , the number of larvae per fruit and number of deformed fruits , making them the most sensitive species to infect by the fly , on the other hand watermelon , melon , pumpkin and squash observed to be non infected species , there fore they are not preferable species by the insect | ||
