Abstract | ||
The research aims at determining the level of knowledge of rural women in some fields of the food industries in general, and then in each area of the food industries namely: dairy products, manufacturing of tomato paste, manufacturing of jams and manufacturing of pickles. A random sample of 90 rural women about 7% of the research population was selected. The results showed that 44% of respondents possessed (medium) knowledge levels in the fields of food industries, 30% of the participant possessed low knowledge, while 26% of them possessed high knowledge in these areas. The results also showed that the level of knowledge of rural women in the food industry is not related significantly to their: (marital status, level of education, type of family, number of family members, the purpose of manufacturing, participation in training courses, and sources of agricultural information), but there is a positive significant correlation with each of their: (age, and the standard of living). In light of the findings, a number of recommendations were presented. The most important one is conducting training courses and specialized educational programs for rural women. It is also important to provide female agricultural advisors in the area where the research was conducted so that the rural women could benefit from them in all aspects of agriculture, household and family care. | ||
