Abstract | ||
The experiment was carried out in one of the greenhouses of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening-College of Agriculture-University of Kirkuk, in the autumn agricultural season for the period from 10/15/2018 to 1/6/2019, with the aim of assessing two plant extracts, which are licorice root and leaves of oleander, on the growth and flowering of roses, the Sultani variety and the extent of control of powdery mildew disease. The experiment was designed according to complete randomized block design as factorial experiment with two factors. The first was licorice root extract, which included control treatment without adding, spraying or irrigation with licorice root extract at a concentration of 0.5% or a combination of them. As for the second factor, it was extract of oleander leaves, which included control treatment and spray treatment with concentrations of 0.5 and 1%. Irrigation and spraying treatment with licorice root extract at a concentration of 0.5% recorded a positive effect on the following vegetative growth characteristics (plant height 96.78 cm, number of five-leaf leaves 175.89 leaves. Plant-1, number of final branches , wet and dry weight 2, plant spread diameter 62.22 cm, leaf area 19220 cm1- branches. Plant 13.33for vegetative 91.11g, 65.43g, and carbohydrate content at branches 2.211%) when compared to the control treatment, The previous treatment also caused a significant increase in the length of the longest root 48.77 cm and the wet weight of the total root 63.33 g, when compared with the control treatment. As for the results of the extract of oleander leaves on the characteristics of vegetative growth, the high concentration of 1% of the extract of oleander has caused a positive effect in increasing each of final branches 12.91 , the number1-of the number of (five leaves) 183.33 leaves.plant. The previous treatment) when compared with control 2and leafy area 16771 cm 1-branches.planttreatment recorded the longest root length of 48.66 cm and the wet and dry weight of the root total (63.75 and 45.50 g, respectively) was assessed with a significant increase if compared with control treatment. As for the interaction between the extracts, it is noted that irrigation and spraying with licorice root extract with spraying with a high concentration of extract of oleander leaves has recorded the highest values and significantly increased the rest of the treatments in each of (plant height 99.23 , dry weight of the total 2, Leafy area 22231 cm1-cm, number of final branches 14.66 branches.plantvegetation 67.90 g, carbohydrate content in branches 2.567%. | ||
