Abstract | ||
The experiment conducted out at the farm of the college of agriculture and forestry – Mosul University in clay soil during the seasons 2010 – 2011 and 2011 – 2012. The objective of this experiment were to study the effect of zinc fertilizer and seeding rate on growth and yield of flax. The experiment included two factors, the first were three levels of zinc fertilizer (0, 2 and 4 kg ZnSo4.H2O. ha-1) added to the soil, and the second, three levels of seeding rate (30, 40 and 50 kg.ha-1). Using Randomized Complete Block Design (R. C. B. D.) to conduct this experiment with three replicates. The results showed that the adding 2 kg ZnSo4.H2O. ha-1 led to a significant increasing in no. of branches. plant-1, no. of capsules. plant-1, weight of 1000 seed, seed yield and seed oil percentage for both seasons. Using seeding rate with 30 kg. ha-1 gave a significant superiority in the previous characters. The interaction between zinc fertilizer and seeding rate did not affect significantly in all studied characters except plant height. The estimated correlation (r) were positively and highly significant correlated between no. of capsules. plant-1 with each: weight of 1000 seed, seed yield and seed oil percentage. | ||
