Abstract | ||
The aim of this research is to identify the level of knowledge of Zeia Maize Farmers in Hawija District / Kirkuk Governorate. And identifying the level of knowledge of farmers in each area of its cultivation represented in as well as identifying the relationship of correlation between the level of knowledge of zeia maize growers and all special variables With the following planters (Age, academic achievement, main family income, exposure to information sources, and trend towards cultivating zeia maize), as well as identifying the problems and obstacles that hinder farmers work. The research community included zeia maize growers in Hawija district, who were officially registered in the agricultural division of Hawija district, whose number is (960) farmers (Planning department in the Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate), and after excluding (30) farmers in pre - test, the research community became (930) farmers, a simple random sample was taken from farmers at a rate of (10%), so that the number of respondents became (930) who are subject to the research procedures. The information and data were obtained by means of a questionnaire includes two parts the first part includes personal and contact questions with farmers. The second part included included (37) paragraph in its final form, and for data analysis used a number of statistical methods, including Pearson correlation coefficient, Spearman correlation coefficient, (t) test, and weight percentage. The outcome of the study showed that most of the respondents were from a low level of knowledge tended to be medium in the rate of (70%) and (24%), respectively, and the results showed that there is a positive significant correlation between the level of knowledge of zeia maize growers and most of the independent variables studied. The research concluded that there is a need to increasing extension activities and training courses for farmers in the research area. Also recommends focusing on the paragraphs that needs a great part of training. Also recommends solving the problems that farmers were exposed by the responsible authorities and by the Kirkuk Governorate Agriculture Directorate to overcome these obstacles in Hawija district. | ||
