 2nd Virtual International Seminar (VIS 2021) Organized by the College of Economics Management and Information Systems (CEMIS), University of Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman

The 2nd edition of Virtual International Seminar (VIS 2021) was conducted by the College of Economics Management and Information Systems, University of Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman on 8th April 2021 through virtual platform, MS Teams. The theme of VIS 2021 is The Global Challenges of Covid 19: Strategies for New Normal. This International Seminar focused on the discussion of most affected areas such as Education, Health, Business and Economics. and members have identified eminent speakers from Academia and Industry to address in the respective sessions. The speakers are from Oman, UAE, Bahrain and Malaysia.

The topic on Education was addressed by Prof. Christopher Abraham, CEO and Head of SP Jain Business School Dubai Campus, and Prof. Dr. Hjh. Nurahimah Mohd Yusoff, School of Education and Modern Languages, UUM.

The topic on Health was addressed by Dr. Salem Said Al Touby, Dean, CPN, University of Nizwa and Dr Ahmed Shahrul Nizam, Associate Professor from UTP.

The topic on Business was addressed by Dr. Ahmed Maher, Muscat University, Sultanate of Oman, and Ms. Raja Azura Raja Mahayuddin, Chairman, USIM Tijarah Holdings Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia.

The topic on Economics was addressed by Dr. Mohammad Omar Farooq, University of Bahrain, and Mr. Khairul Azwan Harun, Chairman, Malaysia Debt Venture Berhad, Malaysia.

The Seminar was received with good response from various institutions and organizations from Oman, Malaysia and from other countries, and more than 500 participants have registered for this event.

Dr. Arockiasamy Soosaimanickam, Dean of CEMIS and Chair, VIS2021 has delivered the welcome address.

Honorable Madam Lujaina Mohsin Darwish, Chairperson, Infrastructure, Technology, Industrial & Consumer Solutions (ITICS), Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC, Muscat has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and delivered the inaugural address in the Inauguration of VIS 2021. 

Prof. Ahmed Khalfan Al Rawahi, Chancellor of University of Nizwa and Prof. Ts M. Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, Vice Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia has been delivering the special address as Guests of Honour. 

The seminar was attended by more than 400 participants from various countries and all have been provided with participation e-certificate. 

Dr. Mustafa Malik, Assistant Dean, CEMIS, Prof. Norizan kassim, Assistant Dean, CEMIS, Ms. Azelin, Senior Lecturer, UTP and Ms. Haryanni Harun, Faculty, UTP have been acted as Moderators for the respective sessions.

Dr Ahmed Shahrul Nizam, Associate Professor, UTP and Co-Chair, VIS 2021 proposed the closing remarks with Vote of Thanks. Ms. Rawan Al Nadabi, Media Department, University of Nizwa did hosting of the whole event.
