A workshop to introduce Oman Research and Education Network.

Oman Research and Education Network and the Deanship of Scientific Research at the University of Nizwa organized, on Sunday 24th of January 2021, a virtual workshop to introduce Oman research and Education Network.

The workshop covered three main points. The first one was the main objective of OMREN, which is to establish a high-speed communication network to build a research capacity in various scientific fields; to implement the national strategic objectives, to provide an encouraging environment for researchers, and enhancing research and educational cooperation; through advanced communication services and a platform to create different applications; to encourage researchers to double their research activities and to enrich the quality of research presented.

Mr. Salim Alamri represented the first segment, who is a marketing specialist in OMREN.

The second one was an introduction to Masader application. It is a basic global recourse for scientific research and studies which contribute to the improvements of the Sultanate of Oman’s communication with the world of knowledge. Mr. Hisham Alarimi spoke about the services the application provides, as it contains millions of scientific journals, books, and studies. Students, academics, and researchers can access the application for free through its multiple research engines.

At last, Jennifer McCoy spoke about the Mirsal application which provides the secured, logical and simple channel of sending large files to other users. Mirsal was developed to meet the requirements of higher education and the scientific research community to share large data sets and educational files.

The workshop was for students, staff, and especially for academics and researchers who can benefit from these two applications: Masader and Mirsal. And to introduce them to modern education technology and its tools provided by OMREN.
