The objective of this research is to study the reality of the quality control in overpasses projects in Iraq, to identify factors affecting the quality control of in-situ concrete poard piles for these projects using the fish bone technique, to find the relative importance of these factors , to evaluate the field application by considering the scientific basis for the quality control in the construction industry , to reach set of conclusions and recommendations aimed to improve the quality control process in overpasses projects to a higher level, and finally to develop the reality of quality management in the construction sector in Iraq. To achieve the above objectives, the required data was collected through open questionnaire, closed questionnaire, brainstorming, field cohabitation of some projects, visits to some ready-mixed concrete plants, and visits to some construction laboratories. In this questionnaire, 66 of engineers who work in overpasses projects in Iraq were participated. It was concluded that the overpasses projects in Iraq suffer from the lack of efficient staff and specializedworkers in quality control field with a relative importance of 90 %, lack of statistical methods for operationsmodeling with a relative importance of 83%, lack of information system for quality control and assignment of contracting for lower bids, lack of rehabilitation of laboratories viewfinder to the requirements of ISO, lack of clarity of design requirements, lack of clarity in the technical specifications, poor awareness of engineering importance of quality control , absence of courses and awareness-raising programs and training periodic quality, lack of coordination meetings between the parties of the project. These factors could be considered as the main factors lead to a poor quality of the concrete used in overpasses projects in Iraq. Finally, some solutions and proposals that could contribute to avoid some of the problems of quality management was presented in this research. | ||
