Abstract | ||
No city around the world witnessed a struggle on it as the city of Karbala, and this struggle was apparently religious between two great powers during the 16th century, and stretching the following centuries, and these were the Ottoman Empire and the safawid dynasty. Other factors were not less important than the previous factor, and these were the political and economic factors. The desire to extend the Ottoman influence in the east, and the rise of the safawid dynasty, was beyond the Ottoman-safawid struggle during the 16th century. The economic factor was an important one for the struggle between the two states, can be strengthen their power. But we must be remember that the religious factor was the most important of the others, because of its impact on peoples felling, therefore the Ottoman sultans, and the safawid rules, achieved many projects in the Iraqi holy cites, and especially in Karbala, for this purpose. In this subject no contemporary sources were known. During the 16th century, therefore we depend upon the travel of Mutraqi Zada, who died in (958/1551) and its importance revealed from its translation from turlikh to Arabic language | ||
