Abstract | ||
This research aims to set up the criteria for selecting topics for composition at secondary school by answering the following question: what are the criteria for selecting topics for composition by teachers of Arabic in secondary school? To answer this question a descriptive analytical approach is used. To achieve the goal of the research , the researcher has built a random sample which consists of (268) teachers of Arabic representing a proportion of (10%) of the original community which makes up (2576) spread over the six Directorates of Education in Baghdad province.The researcher consulted some experts in methods of teaching Arabic and also the available in the topic selection of composition subject.A list of criteria is set up and consist of (38) standards, distributed on five areas (cognitive , pedagogy, psychology, linguistics, and social ). Validity and reliability of the list are achieved . The study has come with the following conclusions: 1. Teachers should give greater attention to topic selection because students’ writings rely primarily on the proper choice of topic. 2. Correct and proper choice of topics which is based on specific standards helps in raising the performance of students significantly. . | ||
