This research represents a humble effort in studying the pragmatic dimension of passive voice in the Quran. The research is divided into three sections: the first explains the term pragmatics in terms of form and function , the second focuses on passive voice according to syntax and pragmatics, and the third presents an analysis of the verses from a pragmatic view point .The research ends with the conclusion that passive voice is used in the Qur’anic text, such as the omission of item which can be retrieved depending on some clues and context of use .The grammatical structure itself might directly mean something while the recipient understands the indirect meaning depending on his/her capacity in interpreting the external clues as well as his Qura’nic knowledge. | ||
