Abstract | ||
The research attempts to pin point the concepts of text Linguistics and discourse analysis because of the controversies that have intermingled these concepts.The study attempts to pave away that illusion by separating between them . To achieve this aim ,the research is divided into four sections. The first clarifies the terms text, text Linguistics and then it chooses four theories in order to explain to the reader the nature of this branch of linguistics . These theories are: Halliday and Hassan , Van Dike, De Bougrand , Petofi.It is concluded that this approach depends on linguistic arrangement and the performance of speech acts. The second section focuses on those figures who support the synonymity of the two terms; they were Westerners and Arabs. The third section explains the concept of discourse analysis according to four pioneers : Bachteen , Harris, Brown ,Yule, and Norman Fairclough. The fourth section concludes the research by focusing on the cause of the confusion that accompanies the two terms, which is the result of illusion of sameness between the two. | ||
