The technology of modern irrigation (sprinkler and drip) technology developed agricultural in the field of agricultural irrigation, for its prominent role in the exploitation of water resources exploited optimally, to address the problems of water and drought, desertification and water crises, and the provision of water for agriculture and increase agricultural production to high levels. The study aims to demonstrate the impact of these technologies in addressing the water problem that has plagued Iraq and dramatically, especially since the beginning of the third millennium, through its role in raising irrigation efficiency and the rational use of water in agriculture, increase agricultural production, coupled with the reduction of costs. The study showed that Iraq is one of the world's countries in arrears in the use of modern irrigation technologies. Also, use them on a very limited scale, as the study showed that the use of spray irrigation systems and drip did not cover the area, but did not exceed the rate of (1.1%) of the total area of arable land in Iraq in the best conditions for the period (1999-2010 Through the results of experiments and scientific research applied in the use of these technologies in a number of governorates of Iraq for some strategic crops (wheat, barley, maize) study showed that the use of the systems mentioned contributed to raising the efficiency of water use rate ranged between (94% - 292% ) for the wheat crop, and between (135% - 267%) of the maize crop, and to provide large quantities of water reached proportions between (27% -33%) for the wheat crop, and between (18% -42%) of the maize crop compared to traditional irrigation. And led to the increase in the area planted with rates ranging between (120% - 915%), and to increase agricultural productivity rates between (49% - 200%) for wheat and barley crops for traditional irrigation. It also proved experiments and studies mentioned to the contribution of modern systems of irrigation in the economy numbers agricultural labor force increased by ranged between (30% -35%), and a significant decrease the cost of energy used by up (50%) and to increase annual revenue by up to (203%) in Iraq than it is in the traditional irrigation system. The study found that Iraq is in dire need to use modern irrigation techniques to exploit its water resources efficiently and the development of agricultural production, and fill the country's need of food products. | ||
