Abstract | ||
This study including examin 248 patients infected with cutaneous mycoses whom attending to dermatology department of general Baquba hospital in Diyala city during the period from December 2003 to August 2004 . Clinically and Laboratory by direct microscopical examination with 10% KOH solution revealed the presence of Malassezia furfur in 64 patients(25.8%) having pityriasis versicolor infection . Clinicaly the white patch lesion was higher than dark brown lesion (672% vs . 32.8%). The site of infection was frequenty on the neck (40.6%) A significantly higher infection rate was found among males about 47 case (73.5%) compared to females about 17 case (26.5%) .Additionally , the infection rate was significantly higher (45.3%) among the age group 22 – 31 years compared to other age groups. However , there was no significant difference between urban s (48.4%) compared to rurals (51.6%). | ||
