Abstract | ||
After the arrest of the Lebanese president and his crew by the French authorities, Lebanese had witnessed a critical political issue in Nov. 1943 which a grivated the Lebanese demand to make a constitutional adjustment for ending up the French mandate then getting the full independence. This research highlights on the role played by the British, who is the French Ally to settle down the crisis by stressing on the French side to regain its old control on Lebanon. It also tackles the positive attitude shown by the British towards the Lebanese government, who refuse the French hegemony in accordance with taking care of the British interests. It also shows the range of British diplomat involvement in finishing the French mandate by pressing on Free French Government in releasing the Lebanese detainees and permitting the elected government to rerule Lebanon. | ||
