Abstract | ||
Four hundred- ninety eight wheat genotypes of the early segregated generations presented two CIMMYT's International nurseries (40IBWSN and 32IBWSN) and local breeding lines in screening, selection and breeding program during 1999- 2011 at Al-Tuwaitha Experimental Station, Agricultural Research Directorate; Ministry of Science and technology. Individual spike selection for each genotype according to early flowering and maturity, lodging, rust and smut resistance, in addition to grain yield and/ or its components were practiced for (F2 – F7). Program continued by family breeding with the bulk method during 2007 – 2009. The advanced breeding lines were introduced in yield trial during the seasons of 2009/2010 and 2010/2011. genotype 1022 of the International nursery 40IBWSN which its origin 06 MULT 40 IBSN MX105 and the pedigree "PFAU / WEAVER*2/3 /WEAVER / ESDA / BORL 95 were exceeded on the other released cultivars in Iraq agriculture and out yielded more than 5.9 ton. ha-1 in comparison with the released cultivars with average ton. ha-1, 4.4 and 7 days for flowering and maturity in addition to its exceeding in spikes for one meter length and seeds.spikes-1. The new cultivar which named "Baghdad 1" was registered and released by the National Committee of registration, release and protect cultivars in Iraq with the decision No. 22 in Oct. 8, 2012. | ||
