Abstract | ||
Iraq considered the date palm country. It was at the top of the world countriesin terms of palm trees number and date production. However, palmsector had a clear deterioration reflected on or decreasing the palm numbers and production of dates. This study was conducted to determine the problems that hindering palm cultivation and the production of dates in Babylon province. Resultsshowed that the more influential problems were: lack of governmental support for the owners of palm groves, weakness of the agricultural department role in the field of developing palm cultivation , lack of services for controlling diseases and insects, lack of agriculture extension services , lack of private associations for dates producers , competition withimported date , lack of demand for dates and itsproducts , lack of manufacturers for date products, primitive methods for dates marketing . | ||
