To determine the role of EBV in pathogenesis of Rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis and Ankylosing spondylitis .Sixty two patients (52 patients with AR, five patients with ReA, and five patients AS) have been investigated. The mean age 47.3, 47.7, 34.5) of RA, ReA and AS respectively and compared to 24 apparently healthy individuals with the mean age 28.3. All the study groups were carried out to measure EBV NA-1 antibodies IgG by ELISA technique, and detection of EBV DNA by convential PCR. There was a significant elevation (P< 0.05) in the concentration of EBVNA-1IgG antibodies compared to control groups. The result of present study revealed from fifty two of RA patients was 44 positive to EBV DNA in a percentage 84.62% while only 15.38% was negative to it, and all patients with ReA and AS was positive 100.0% where no negative result. Compare to control group and the statistical analysis show highly significant different (P<0.01) between studied groups. The results of current study indicate that infection with EBV play a role as a triggering factor in pathogenesis of RA, ReA and AS | ||
