Abstract | ||
The research aims to study the Morphometric properties of Chuman Valley basin, Which are spatial, formal and terrain characteristics as well as and drainage characteristics as well as drain patterns recognition in the basin using GIS technology. Chuman Valley basin is located in the northeastern part of Iraq in Erbil governorate and specifically within Choman residential area near Iraq-Iran borders. This Basin consider as abroad sub-basin. In this study, earth structure of the basin has been studied where it’s valleys on the configurations of the Jurassic and Cretaceous age and configurations of triple and quadruple ages. The basin surface characteristics also examined of the surface based on rises and their sizes as well as classified soil of basin to the cracked soil and bumpy mountainous farming and soil of Alpine mountain, The related maps in this study has been mapped depending on the topographic maps scale (1/100,000) in select outdoor Chuman valley and draw it’s commercial network, in addition, the geological map of the region with the scale (1/100,000) used for mapping and identify geological formations, and converting these maps to digital maps. Chuman Valley basin area is (1117) km2, and its Hypsometric factor was reached to (57%), that is mean the valley in young adulthood as the total river ranks are (613). | ||
