Abstract | ||
Iraqi- Kuwaiti relations are one of the most controversiad relations in the Arab Gulf region, where by these relationships encountered significant tension and instability after the removal of Saddam's Systemin 2003 as a result of a series of political and economic problems between two countries, such as border demarcation and compensation, etc. as a result of the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait in 1991. The security and economic interests of the regional players in the Gulf region e.g., the U.S., Iran, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) determines the orientation and policy towards Iraqi -Kuwaiti relations, whether through the promotion of cooperation and work to achieve convergence of the relations between Iraq and Kuwait or vice versa .This paper investigates the observations and analyzes the effects of these diverse regional interests. This paper contributes to the literature by way of broadening the knowledge in this area of study with a model to examine the key effects of the diverse regional interests on the nature of the Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations after Saddam's regime in 2003. Finally, this paper examines and analyzes the progress made in Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations in light of the divergent interests of the regional players post-Saddam rule. | ||
